PROJECT 3
Interpretation and Representation: Principles, Tectonics and Sensory
In this final project, we were to deconstruct our Project 2 tectonic structure and enhance the structure (approximately 20m3) to create a poetic architectural representation of the tectonic. We need to further develop the sensorial experience to highlight the beauty of that banal action. This can be done through the design elements & principles, relationship between the banal action and the design, the material used (concrete, timber, glass).
Throughout the project, I had to think critically about combining my design intentions, the material used, studies on anthropometric and ergonomics, and the sensory experience into my final design. The TGC that I gained here is thinking and problem solving skills. During the presentation for this project, it challenged me to further develop my ability to create a conceptual narrative.
Outcome: A 1:20 monochromatic interpretive model with a full set of orthographic and abstract drawings, 4 tattoo stamps.
DECONSTRUCT (PROJECT 2)
DESIGN ELEMENTS & PRINCIPLES: LINES & RHYTHM
BANAL ACTION: LYING & CRAWLING
Lines are put together to create rhythm. Banal actions can be performed at the different angles created.
TEST MODEL
FINAL MODEL
To create a contrast between the exterior and interior space through different design elements and the materials (concrete and timber). The solid form created by concrete act as a support to the timber also it created an interior space. The timber was placed in a way that it creates rhythm and a space to perform different experience of the banal actions.
The user will go through the confine space formed by the concrete that gives a cold feeling before gradually getting more sunlight and lastly to the warmer outdoor spaces with a wider view. Throughout the journey, the user get to perform the banal action (lying) at a different level and space from the lowest to the highest. The sight of the user also get gradually wider and higher.
