PROJECT 1C
Architecture for place-making
Continuing from Project 1B, we are to create an architectural narration for place-making in the city while ensuring an integrated design for our community centre. We will focus on resolving architectural strategies for form, activity, and circulation, considering technical integration. The design will encompass positive outdoor space, animating the edge, appropriate building size and scale, adaptability for change, and a thriving public realm. The proposed building should have an area between 1200 m2 and 1300 m2, with 3-5 storeys within the given block boundaries. The design will address user needs for an urban community centre, incorporating structural, spatial, technical, and environmental considerations, with a focus on tropical design and coherent facade and building envelope design.

Reflection
It was not an easy semester having to take into consideration a holistic application of the urban site context and technical compliances comparing to the past semester where all are stand alone building. More in-depth analysis and response design strategy are needed in this project. However, from investigating urban contexts and place-making to developing architectural strategies and design narratives, this studio has contributed to my understanding of creating meaningful spaces. I have learned to incorporate technical integration, consider user needs, and explore diverse design elements. These skills definitely will help in the next semester and future. These experiences have equipped me with valuable skills and insights to tackle future challenges.
